Thank you for your input, this is indeed a great suggestion.  Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, after some additional research we came up with a form allowing members to send participation request to their contacts by just one click, see the form here

 

 

However the technology that we are using for the platform does not allow us to easily import contacts from  mail/webmail clients at this time. Therefore the members would have to enter manually all the emails(each email followed by a semicolon) of the potential participants, in that email they would be advised that they have been invited by a member of the community to participate in specific discussion or topic, however if these email recipients are members of the community they will be required to login to the site and if they are not members they would need to register before they could access the discussion or topic he was invited to. Hopefully we can eventually  have a solution that will incorporate some kind of contact importing tool.

Can there be a Button/Link : 'Invite others to this discussion' for members to invite their contacts who may be interested ?

 

Members may be allowed to enter the email addresses of their contacts or import contacts from their mail client such as OUTLOOK or popular webmail sites such as Yahoo, google or hotmail.

(In case this idea is useful there are scripts to do this such as Open Inviter)
